Neil's Graduation Party

On Friday afternoon we left the Lower Mainland for Peachland. It was a pleasant drive, Susan drove to Chilliwack and Aly drove the rest of the way. No stopping on the way. We told Don and Lynda we would arrive at six and that is exactly when we pulled into their driveway (wouldn't Dad be impressed). Peggy had ordered steak and salad for dinner and that is what we had. We finished up with a choice of either rhubarb and strawberry pie or apple crumble pie (or both). What a delicious meal. After dinner we sat out on the back balcony with a lovely view of Lake Okanagan. We chatted until dark and caught up on family gossip.

Saturday morning the Grant Girls and Alyson went shopping at Orchard Park in Kelowna. Don and Lynda had household chores to do. We found lots of summer bargains at the mall. After lunch we met Lynda, Don and Kirsten. They picked up Susan and headed to the Graduation Cermonies at the Kelowna campus of UBC. The rest of us headed home for a nap. It was very warm and we were happy to spend time in the air-conditioned house.

Neil and Kirsten were the first to arrive for the barbeque. They had stopped at the lake on the way over and had a quick, refreshing dip. Don, Lynda and Sue followed shortly along with Kirsten's mom, nephew and step-dad. The chairs and lounges were moved to the backyard grass, where we sat and visited. Don cooked hamburgers, and Lynda made a big bowl of potato salad, and a platter of veggies and dip. Another great meal. Not just one graduation cake for my grandson but two. One chocolate and the other an ice cream cake. Wow, the calories.

Later on in the evening Susan, Don and I went for a hot tub. Okay getting in but a bit of an effort getting out for this old girl.

Sunday morning found us up bright and early for the trip home. A great holiday. A lovely weekend.

It was a lovely trip. A wonderful time of relaxation in the beauty of the Okanagan. It's always fun with 'the girls'.

Sounds like you had a fun time. The shopping sounds like a blast :P Now if only you could drive to see the other son.
