The weather co-operated for Peggy and Al's wedding. We were able to hold the ceremony outside and it was cool enough to come back into my home for a toast to the bride and groom. Susan gave a short speech and we sat around and chatted until it was time to head out for lunch at our favourite Chinese restaurant. Fifteen family members and friends were there. It was a pleasant time and everyone seemed to enjoy the occasion.

On Saturday afternoon a party was held in Avril and Garth's spacious garden. It was a lot of work in the morning setting up the tables and getting the space for the D.J.and his music. Many hands make light work as Bethany and her dad discovered. There were lots of people who pitched in to help -- good friends and family were essential. The guests started to arrive at four o'clock and the rain held off until around eight-thirty in the evening. So many things to do and so many people to chat with. Old friendships to renew and new friends to make. Good food and pleasant company made it an enjoyable evening for all.

The work crew pitched in to help clear the yard after the guests left. Peggy and Al were smart to include lots of young people in the invitation. They were ready, willing and able to help even though the rain poured down. Perhaps that made it more fun than work.
