September Days

After thinking summer was over for another year, we received a pleasant surprise. The sunshine has returned -- September has been gorgeous. We make the best of this special treat, with supper in the park, croquet at the Wedemire's, wiener roasts or just walking with Daisy.

I always think I never do anything exciting until I start to write my blog. Gordie always kept a calendar of our activities so we could look back on the year. I suppose this blog is my calendar-of-events.

This has been a month of sadness that goes with my age group. My brother-in-law died
September 2. A good army buddy of Gordie's went the week before, now a cousin has gone. All good men who lived long productive lives. It is hard to believe these men were all in their eighties, survivors of depression years, war service. They leave their families, all good solid citizens, who probably remember their dad as a kind, strict parent. Remembering you, Williard, Gene, and Roy.
