In The Good Old Summertime

Mid-way through August. The nights are starting to draw in. In the mornings there is dew on the grass. Where has the summer gone? September in British Columbia is beautiful, though I dread the long nights of winter coming.

My grandchildren from Ontario have been here for almost a month. It is lovely to be able to get to know them again. The girls have grown so much and the boy has changed from a baby to a little person. I went shopping with each girl separately to buy an outfit for school starting. What definite personalities and tastes. It was fun to watch them acting like young women, picking and choosing their outfits. My youngest son comes tonight for a week before taking the family home. Another summer will then be over.

A new great grandchild will be born the end of September. I wonder if my son-in-law remembers saying to me once, that one of the things in the Bible that the family abides by, is "go forth and multiply." I will see my first great grandson in the fall when my grandson brings his family to see his west coast relatives.
